Castle Doctrine and Stand Your Ground not working for Disabled Veteran
SSGT Brian Keys is an 80% Disabled Army Combat Veteran who fought for our country, now must fight for his freedom after fighting off intruders who came into his home, The action that SSGT Keys took was in the defense of himself and his household from three adult intruders at his front door. SSGT Keys has not been afforded his castle doctrine or stand your ground protections. The three assailants have conspired enough that the state prosecutor decided to charge SSGT Keys with several felonies before vetting any of the allegations for truth or correctness. SSGT Keys is currently being held at the Linn County jail on a $500,000 bond while not having been found guilty of any crime. As a result of these charges, incarceration and financial hardship SSGT Keys is in desperate need of financial assistance. This assistance will be used to fight these charges. Without assistance it is possible that 60-year-old SSGT Keys could die in prison as an innocent man.
